After dropping a pair of close games, the Royalton girls basketball team wasn’t going to allow Tuesday’s match-up against visiting Rush City be decided in the final minutes.
The Royals got off to a hot shooting start from the field, putting together a 17-4 lead, and carried a 28-9 edge into the break, then coasted down the stretch to a 52-29 win.
Senior Hannah Fussy led all scorers with 20 points, with senior Kalee Petron also reaching double figures with 10.
Senior Kandy Meyer (7), sophomore Haley Olson (6), juniors Emily Fussy (5) and Alexis Martinez (2) and freshman Madi Rudolph (2) also scored for the Royals.
“This was a good win for us we had lost a few close games and not played to our potential,” Royalton head coach Jeff Schoenrock said. “We came out strong and got an early lead, allowing us to rest some girls.”
