Irene Koll, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish cemetery.
Irene was born July 14, 1921, in Pierz, to the late Joseph and Anna (Bednar) Janski. She grew up in the Buckman area where she helped on the family dairy farm and attended country school. Upon completion of school, she worked as a maid in the Twin Cities area. She met Edmund Koll at a dance and they were later united in marriage, April 29, 1952, at St. Michael’s Church in Buckman. They resided their whole marriage at the home place in Little Falls where they also farmed and Irene took care of their four children. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, playing cards and dice, watching the various birds and especially her flowers and having family around. She will be greatly missed for her spiritual guidance, love of the rosary and Mass and her creative language and quick-witted comebacks.
Irene is survived by her sons Clifford (Beverly) Koll of Red Wing, Edwin Koll (special friend Mariane Lease) of Little Falls and Leon Koll of Little Falls; daughter, Ann Doble of Little Falls, sister, Freida Bernard; brothers, Ambrose Janski and Joey Janski; grandchildren, Terri (Kimberly) Petersen, Jacki Retka (fiancé Scott Wright), Fabian Koll, Jamie (Angi) Doble, Jodi (Shawn) Jendro, Bradley Koll (fiancée Samantha Mehrwerth), Samantha Koll (special friend Bradley Meier) and Stephanie Koll; 12 great-grandchildren and penpal Sandy Koll.
She was preceeded in death by her husband of 30 years, Edmund (April 1993); parents Anna and Joseph Janski; siblings, Lawrence Janski, Clem Janski, Armella Prokott, Odelia Kusterman and infant brother, Lambert Janski; sister-in-law, Melvina Janski; brother-in-law John Prokot; brother-in-law Albin Bernard; sister-in-law Louise Janski; brother-in-law Carl Langer and sister-in-law Martha Langer.
Honorary pallbearers were Terri Petersen, Jacki Retka, Fabian Koll, Jamie Doble, Jodi Jendro, Bradley Koll, Samantha Koll and Stephanie Koll.
