Girls Basketball: Upsala topples Royalton to remain undefeated

Seniors Tracy Herzog and Aimee Pelzer combined for 40 points and eighth-grader Katlin Welinski had nine in her varsity debut as the Upsala girls basketball team defeated host Royalton 76-52, Friday.

Herzog finished as the leading scorer on the night with 23 points, while Pelzer netted 17 points and distributed 14 assists.

In addition to her nine points, Welinski also grabbed six rebounds, with sophomore Sara Herzog scoring nine as well.

Senior Alissa Zehrer (8), sophomores Danica Cheney (3) and Kristin Wuebkers (2), juniors Katie Ripplinger (2) and Kaelin Smieja (2) and senior Sadie Welinski (1) rounded out the offensive effort for the Cardinals.

Royalton was led by four players scoring at least eight points, including sophomore Haley Olson (17), seniors Kandy Meyer (14) and Kalee Petron (9) and junior Emily Fussy (8).
