Rita A. Winscher, 86
Rita A. Winscher, a resident of Pierz, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 19, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ramey, with the Rev. David Franzmeier officiating. Burial was at the St. John’s Cemetery in Dixville.
Rita Agnes Winscher was born in Buh Township Feb. 24, 1926, to the late Vincent and Gertrude Waytashek. She attended the local country school. Rita worked in the Twin Cities area prior to being united in marriage to Sidney Winscher, Oct. 24, 1944, in Pierz. The couple made their home on a farm they purchased near Morrill, where they raised their eight children. They farmed until their retirement in 1980, at which time they purchased a home on five acres near Buckman. They later moved to Pierz. She was game to try anything that was fun. She enjoyed the annual week- long Lake Edward vacation with her family so much that it became a family tradition for over 14 years. She worked hard on the farm and raised a wonderful family. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing, gardening and any time spent with family. Time spent with her grandchildren always made her day. After retirement, she did many things for the first time such as oil painting, ceramics, pitching horse- shoe on a league, crocheting (she crocheted an entire bedspread for each of her daughters and many table doilies, etc.), downhill skiing, riding on a tube behind a speed boat and learning how to ride a horse. She went on trail rides and even carried a flag in the parades for the saddle club. She always put 100 percent into whatever she did. She was a wonderful cook and she welcomed anyone into her house for a good home cooked meal at any time of day. Her meals and treats were so good, they will be cherished memories for all of her family and friends. She was proud of the fact that she was married to Sidney for over 68 years.
Rita is survived by her children, Shirley (Steve) Krause of Tucson, Ariz., Gary Winscher of Pierz, Sally (Robert) Kieffer of Hillman, Allan Winscher of Sartell, Marvin (Bev) Winscher of Rice and Marilyn (Wayne) Burggraff of Pierz and daugher-in-law, Alice Winscher of Royalton and brother, Jim (Jan) Waytashek and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rita’s grandchildren, Derek Burggraff, Eric Winscher, Nick Winscher, Karla Popp, Krystal Delaney, Tracy Winscher, Kim Olson and Mark Winscher.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim and Jan Waytashek, Marie Meyer, Bertha Jedlicki, Lucy Kelzenberg, June Magle and Harriet Juetten.
