What figured to be a tall task going in ended up being even tougher with two regulars out of the lineup, as Pierz squared off against defending Class A state champion Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE), Tuesday.

BBE entered the game having won 47 games in a row dating back to the 2010-11 season and 79 of its past 80.

The Jaguars wasted little time demonstrating why, sprinting to a 16-0 lead in the opening minutes.

Pierz responded with an 11-2 run to cut the gap to 18-11, but wouldn’t be able to pull any closer, as BBE cruised to a 75-42 triumph.

Senior Cullin Carter scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds and seniors Ben Boser and T.J. Hoheisel each tallied nine points to pace Pierz.
