Girls Basketball: Swanville overtakes St. John’s Prep in overtime

Swanville junior Nikki Primus hit a game-tying layup with 14 seconds to play at St. John’s Prep to force overtime, Friday.

From there, the Bulldogs maintained its fierce defensive pressure from the end of regulation to pull out a 50-47 Prairie Conference win, led by a 27-point, 13-rebound double-double by senior Marissa Evans.

St. John’s Prep led 40-33 with 5:33 remaining in the second half, but could manage only two more points in regulation off of the Swanville defense as the Bulldogs rallied to force the extra session.

Senior Tiffany Barthel followed Evans in double figures with 11 points as well as seven rebounds and three assists, while Primus finished with six points.

Senior Abbey Schultz and sophomores Danica Hanson and Steph Koetter each contributed two points, with Koetter and Hanson combining for 13 rebounds.
