Mary Beth Bontjes, a public health nurse with Morrison County Public Health, was recently named the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Month.
Bontjes’ job keeps her busy. She does case management/care coordination with her over-65 clients. She ensures they are safe, keeping healthy and are doing well in their homes.
Bontjes, who has been with Morrison County for 14 years, is also a long-term-care consultant in both her clients’ homes and in long-term facilities. She sits down with them to discuss their health and assesses what needs they may have to improve their lives. She also does referrals to other health professionals.
Bontjes’ third job is assessing people with health issues who may benefit from a referral.
“I very much enjoy what I do and look forward to helping others daily. I also love all my co-workers, they are an awesome group of people,” she said. “It was such a nice complement to be nominated for this honor.”
Bonnie Paulsen, the director of Morrison County Public Health, said, “Mary Beth has been a wonderful employee for Morrison County Public Health. She has a positive outlook and cares for her clients so well. She is a joy to work with.”
Bontjes and her husband, Joe, live in Randall. They have seven children. Mike is 22, Allisa is 17, Sarah is 16, Jeremiah is 13, Noah is 10, Antonia is 8 and Alexandra is 4.
In her spare time, she loves to watch “feel-good” movies and one of her favorite times of the year is getting together with more than 50 members of her family. They rent the campground in Wyalusing State Park in Wisconsin and spend the week camping.
For being named the Employee of the Month, Bontjes received gift certificates from Broadway Stylists, Pizza Ranch and the West Side Bar. She received flowers from Coborn’s, a cookbook from the St. Gabriel’s Hospital Hospice Program and had her photo taken by Silker Studio.
