For the second time this season, Pierz stuck with second-ranked Melrose Area for a half.

But for the second time, the Dutchmen displayed too much firepower in the second half, topping the visiting Pioneers 90-61, Tuesday.

Senior Cullin Carter scored 25 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Pierz, with senior Mitch Bednar posting 12 points and seven rebounds.

Senior Ben Boser also pulled down seven rebounds while scoring eight points, with senior Jon Fuhrman (7), sophomore Ryan Kowalzek (3), freshman Aaron Weber (3), junior Matt Athman (2) and senior Josh Templin (1) also scoring.

Pierz held a 36-32 lead at the break before Melrose responded by outscoring the Pioneers 58-25 in the second half.
