Ben Hanowski named WCHA Player of Week

Little Falls graduate Ben Hanowski, a senior on the St. Cloud State University (SCSU) men’s hockey team, was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Men’s Offensive Player of the Week, Tuesday.

Hanowski scored three times and had 10 shots on goal as the visiting Huskies took three of four points from rival North Dakota, Jan. 25 – 26, to move into first place in the WCHA race.

He opened the weekend by scoring the game-winning goal in the Huskies’ 3-1 victory, Jan. 25, handing St. Cloud State a 2-0 advantage at 16:36 of the first period.

Hanowski then finished up the weekend with a two-goal night, Jan. 26, as the Huskies’ played to a 2-2 tie.

On the season, Hanowski now has 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points and leads the team with 88 shots on net. Through 140 collegiate games at SCSU, he has 103 points with 56 goals and 47 assists.
