A Pierz man was charged Wednesday, in Morrison County District Court with one felony count of theft of a motor vehicle.
On Tuesday, the Little Falls Police Department received a report of a theft of a motor vehicle from the Arby’s restaurant parking lot in Little Falls. The victim told police he tried to catch the thief, but was unable to and that his car was going south on LeMieur Street.
When officers located the stolen vehicle abandoned near Fifth Avenue Southeast, they observed tracks in the fresh snow.
Daryl Duane Breden, 42, was located walking on 133rd Street. Allegedly, he was sweating profusely and his pants were covered with snow. He denied stealing the vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, when the victim arrived at the scene, he confirmed Breden was the person who stole his vehicle.
The boots Breden was wearing also matched the footprints in the snow.
If convicted, Breden faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
