Central Minnesota Girls Basketball: Section powers knock off Pierz

Pierz traveled to a pair of Section 6AA powerhouses this week, falling 60-42 at Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) leader Eden Valley-Watkins (EVW) and 86-38 at seventh-ranked Staples Motley.

Pierz played EVW evenly through the first half, Jan. 31, only trailing by four at 29-25 at the break.

But the Eagles seized control coming out of the half, preserving its undefeated CMC record.

Junior Bridget Bednar had 13 points and eight rebounds and senior Megan Boser finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists to pace the Pioneers.

Staples Motley cruises past Pierz 86-38

Staples Motley exhibited a relentless attack throughout Tuesday’s contest, building a 16-point halftime advantage before easing to the win.

Boser had 11 points and senior Mickey Rocheleau and junior Tiara Hopkins each added seven for Pierz, with Rocheleau collecting a team-high 11 rebounds.
