Vernilda Mohr, 95

obit---Mohr,-V. Vernilda ‘Vernie’ A. Mohr, a resident of Little Falls formerly of Cushing,  passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
Funeral services will be held  Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing, with Bob Mueller officiating. Burial took place  in the Randall City Cemetery.        Vernie was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Brookville Township, Renville County,  to the late Carl and Hulda (Jensen) Jensen along with her twin sister Vi. She met Gustav ‘Gus’ Mohr while working in Markville,  and was later united in marriage to him  Dec. 14, 1938. The couple moved to Randall where they built their home along with a gas station that they operated for many years. Vernie later worked at Gosch’s Store in Randall and was also employed at the Randall Post Office for 22 years. Upon retirement they resided on Lake Alexander for several years and in 2001 Vernie and Gus moved to Little Falls. In her free time she enjoyed crafts such as sewing, crocheting and ceramics. Vernie was also an avid gardener and truly loved watching the hummingbirds and goldfinches that would visit her bird feeders. Vernie was a wonderful cook and always had homemade treats when you stopped by.  Vernie enjoyed dancing and socializing with family and friends. She enjoyed  making others happy by remembering their birthdays, anniversaries and special events in their lives. While living in Fairbanks, Alaska, in the early 1950s Vernie learned how to decorate cakes and she took textile painting classes. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing for 45 years and she participated in many church projects, events and groups throughout her lifetime. Vernie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by children, Larry (Helen) Mohr of Chaska and LaRaine ‘Raine’ (Jerry) Blomker of Cushing; grandchildren, Sally (Scott) Pierone, Stephen (Diana) Mohr, Jodi Heckel and special friend Dawn Malecha, and Jeffrey Heckel and fiancé Lisa LaRock; stepgrandchildren, Craig (Kim) Blomker and Carrie (Ken) Kjellberg; many great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Juliet Mohr and Hilda Braatz; and many nieces and nephews; and special friends Phyllis and John Nelson.
Vernie was preceded in death by, husband Gustav ‘Gus’ Mohr; parents, Carl and Hulda Jensen; and siblings, Victor Jensen, Vi Chipman and Virgil Jensen.
