Weekend recap: LeBlanc places third at state gymnastics, 20 area wrestlers advance and Little Falls boys hockey reach section finals

Highlights from the weekend area action:

LeBlanc places third in state all-around

Little Falls junior Rachelle LeBlanc took third place in the Class A state all-around competition, Saturday, with a total of 37.425.

She placed third on beam (9.55), fourth on floor exercise (9.5), ninth on bars (9.2125) and 20th on vault (9.1625).


Area wrestlers advancing to state

Little Falls: Connor Scherping, Tyler Gastecki, Joe Reis and Conor Swanson.

Pierz: Brandon Sullivan, Chris Ortman, Evan Woitalla, Brad Meyer, Travis Johnson, Ryley Smude and Curtis Brisk.

Holdingford: Zach Scott, Clem Gerads, Trevor Scott, Kyle Gerads, Kyle Kolstad, Jordan Gombos and Mitch Messman.

Royalton-Upsala: Mitch Lange and Cory Wensmann.


Little Falls boys hockey reaches Section 6A semis

Little Falls edged Alexandria 3-2 in Saturday’s Section 6A semifinals, using two goals from Spencer Fenske and another from Luke Majerle.


Little Falls boys basketball defeats Mora

The Little Falls boys basketball team topped Mora 72-63, Saturday, closing in on the Granite Ridge Conference title.

Collin Eckman scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Troy and Jake Scott combined for 31 points and Spencer Lubbers had seven points and 16 rebounds.


Upsala boys hoops remains unbeaten

Lakeview Christian had the bigger star, but Upsala proved it had the better team, outfiring all-time state scoring leader Anders Broman and the Lions 105-96, receiving 17 points and 20 rebounds from Avery Smieja.
