A year ago, Upsala hit a game-tying shot at the end of regulation on its way to defeating Parkers Prairie in overtime to wrap up the regular season.

The ninth-ranked Cardinals had a chance to do it again, Monday, but a late three missed the mark as the sixth-ranked Panthers escaped with a 59-56 road win.

Seniors Aimee Pelzer and Tracy Herzog led the Cardinals with 23 and 19 points, respectively, while Pelzer also recorded nine assists and nine rebounds.

Junior Kaelin Smieja added five points and senior Alissa Zehrer netted three.

Upsala hosts Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in the Sub-Section 5A West quarterfinals, Thursday.
