Richard C. Lakeman, 75

obit-Lakeman-RRichard C. Lakeman a resident of Little Falls, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his home in Little Falls.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, with the Rev. David Sperstad officiating. Burial will take place in Moorhead Memorial Cemetery in Moorhead, at 1 p.m. Monday, March 4.
Richard was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Bakersfield, Calif. to the late Nicholas and Emma (Horn) Lakeman. As a young man Richard grew up in Felton, where he graduated from Felton High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard serving from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1966. He farmed for many years on the family home place in Felton. In 1980, Richard retired from farming and began his career as a truck driver. He drove many miles throughout his career mostly servicing the Minnesota area. When he was not driving truck, Richard enjoyed working and tinkering around his home. He was a very giving person who was always willing to help someone that was in need.
Richard is survived by sons, Cary Lakeman of Colorado and Perry Lakeman of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Laura Lakeman of Colorado and Lisa (Craig) Olson of Colorado; brothers, Kenneth (Judy) Lakeman of Coon Rapids and LeRoy (Linda) Lakeman of Borup; sisters, Darlene Tratebas of Kouts, Ind. and Vi Rheinhardt of Rosemount; and five grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by parents, Nicholas and Emma Lakeman; son, Randy Lakeman; wife, Cynthia (Davis) Lakeman; and brother-in-law, John Tratebas.
