Lucky math teacher wins $1,000 shopping spree

Shopping-Spree-Justin-and-LaurieLaurie Schoeck, a Little Falls Community Middle School (LFCMS) math teacher, has had a lucky week. She may not have won the PowerBall, but she did win a mug from the library and then someone mailed her purse back to her — a purse she had lost while on vacation in Los Angeles over Presidents’ Day. The week was made complete when her husband, Chad, made sure she was at Taco John’s in Little Falls for lunch Thursday, where she was surprised by the Record sales staff with the news that she was the winner of the six-week Shopping Spree, sponsored by the Record and 39 area businesses. Justin Bieganek, left, owner of Taco John’s in Little Falls, helped present the winnings, since she signed up at his business to become part of the drawing. Schoeck can spend the $1,000 at any of the sponsoring businesses. “It’s just been my lucky week,” said Laurie. Chad assured her that when it was his turn to cook, they would be headed back to Taco John’s. Participating businesses were also entered into a drawing, with Fort Ripley Gas winning free advertising.
