Change is within reach, today

By Pastor Jason Swedeen, The Rock Family Worship Center

There is no better time than today to make the changes you want. Looking at the past, for most, can be very discouraging. Looking to tomorrow puts too many obstacles in our path of thinking. Maybe it’s “I am not strong enough now” or even “Maybe I don’t really want to change.”
It also puts it out in the future as something to strive for and all too often gets caught in the rut of “waiting till tomorrow,” which never comes. Being a good steward of our life is as someone once put it: “Do not put off ‘til tomorrow what you can do today.”
Jesus knows what you and I go through, the good and the bad, the ups and downs. He even knows the things that we are trying to hide from others or trying to even forget ourselves.
The Bible says in Isaiah 53 that, “… He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid, as it were, our faces from him; … surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.”
I have never, ever, heard someone say that they feel so free in life because they hid things or forgot about them. It will always show its ugly face, and until dealt with, will show itself at more inopportune times in life. Jesus has clearly made the way, paid the price, so that you could, today, walk free of the chains that have held you down, because he loves you and sees the awesome potential in you.
For us to hide ourselves from him is to deny and reject what he already did for us. It is free. You do not need to work to earn it. Jesus alone is our hope to be saved.
Make a choice today to seek the change that you want in your life. Talk to Jesus. His desire to help you change is far more than your desire to change. He has enough strength and grace to help you, but you need to start. Start today and begin living a life, in Jesus, that is without regrets.
When we call upon Jesus and we surrender our all to him; the Bible says that we “are a new creation in Christ.” It is his work. All things in the past are gone. Everything is made new.
That is just a small picture of how awesome God’s love is for you. Let him help you change. After all, he did create you and there is no one else who knows better what you are to be and how you are to function than your creator.
