Sheriff cautions residents to take care when removing snow on roofs
With heavy wet snow piling up across Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel is urging residents to be extremely cautious while going onto roofs to remove it.
Each year, people are seriously injured after slipping and falling off snow and ice covered roofs. Farmers are at increased risk while removing snow from large sheds with fiberglass skylights. “Those panels get brittle over the years and can’t support the weight of a person. In addition it is easy to misjudge where the skylights are located under a blanket of thick snow.”
“Just two years ago, prominent Little Falls residence Verd Anez died after falling though a skylight while clearing snow. We never want to see a tragedy like that again,” said Wetzel.
