Neelan convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon

In the Seventh Judicial District Court of Morrison County, Jory Lane Neelan, 35, Brooklyn Center, was convicted March 13, of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

On Dec. 30, 2012, officers received a report of a domestic assault in Motley. Officers met with the victim who said she had been assaulted by Neelan after an argument over money and babysitting.

The victim said Neelan threw a steak knife at her, then hit her elbow with a kitchen pot, damaging the pot. When the victim called 911, Neelan chased her outside.

Neelan was arrested after being uncooperative with officers.

Neelan was sentenced to the correctional facility in St. Cloud for 27 months, stayed for seven years plus 120 days in jail with credit for 74 days time already served. He was fined $135 and given seven years of probation.
