DFL gives provisional endorsement for 9B House seat to Welle

The Senate District 9 DFL Central Committee voted unanimously March 14, to provisionally endorse Pierz native and Upsala City Clerk/Treasurer Adrian Welle for the Minnesota House of Representatives District 9B for 2014.

The DFL party allows for the provisional endorsement of candidates in non-election years as long as the candidate receives 90 percent of the vote of its respective central committee. A provisional endorsement is only good until Dec. 31 of the year and the candidate will need to request formal endorsement from the party in the spring of 2014. A provisional endorsement can be revoked from a candidate at any time with a simple majority vote of the central committee.

Welle previously ran for House District 9B in 2012. Welle is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a degree in public administration. He currently serves as the city clerk/treasurer for the city of Upsala.

Welle is a lifelong resident of Morrison County. Welle grew up on a chicken and dairy farm near Lastrup, with his mother and father, David and Roxanne, and siblings Amy, Aric and Anna.
