Burgardt faces prison for assault

Brent Roger Burgardt, 32, Little Falls, was charged March 22, with one felony count of third degree assault by Morrison County Attorney Brian Middendorf and his staff.

On Sept. 17, 2012, a man reported to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office he had been assaulted by Burgardt.

The victim told officers he met up with Burgardt and another man at a bar in Pierz. The other man began harassing him and the bartender escorted him out.

Later, at another Pierz bar, the victim encountered Burgardt and the other man again. He told officers that when he was walking to his car after the bar closed, he and the other man again argued. That is when the assault allegedly started.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police the two men got him on the ground and proceeded to beat him, striking him in the face, shoulders and chest. He said he went to the hospital the next day and learned he had fractures through the right and left nasal bone.

If convicted, Burgardt faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine.
