Swanville returns four starters, including senior sluggers Tiffany Barthel and Marissa Evans.

But the key to the Bulldogs’ ability to contend for the top spot in the Prairie Conference this spring will be found in the pitcher’s circle, head coach Tom Bzdok said.

“The success of our season will come down to pitching,” Bzdok said. “If juniors Jackie Panek and Nikki Primus can step up and perform well, we should have a competitive team and successful season.”

“This year’s team is made up of a wonderful group of young ladies with great attitudes and work ethics,” he said.

Along with four-year fixtures Barthel and Evans, the Bulldogs bring back starters in senior left fielder Abbey Schultz and sophomore first baseman Simone Grittner.

Among those looking to see increased varsity time are juniors Ashley Maciej (catcher), Jackie Panek (pitcher) and Nikki Primus (pitcher).

Seniors on this year’s team include Barthel, Evans, Schultz and Chloee Larson.

Graduating from last year’s team were Molly Jordan, Lexi Loven, Vickie Maciej and Courtney Sieben.
