A group of 11 letter winners, as well as its ace starting pitcher, return for the Holdingford baseball team as it looks to climb the ladder in the rigorous Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) and Section 6AA.

Senior Sam Butler headlines the Huskers’ pitching staff after posting a 2-4 record and 1.80 ERA last spring, while also playing shortstop when not on the mound.

Joining Butler with experience in the Holdingford lineup are seniors Cody Schwinghammer (outfield), Nick Konz (pitcher), Beau Maciej (outfield) and Taylor Milbrandt (catcher) and juniors Jake Nelson (pitcher/third base), Jeremy Springer (pitcher/infield), Cody Bialka (infield), Mitch Messman (outfield), Mitch Merten (first base) and Jordan Gombos (pitcher/outfield).

Also looking to step up and play significant roles in the outfield are seniors Brent Gerads, Logan Athmann and Alex Hiltner.

Graduating from last year’s team were David Bialka, Mike Jarnot, Luke Doll and Nick Knettel.

“With 11 letter winners coming back, we expect to improve on our overall and conference record,” Holdingford head coach Jason Bruns said. “Defense will be our strength. Offensively we need to be more consistent at the plate and get some clutch hits.”
