obit-Vosen-HHarvey A. Vosen, a resident of Little Falls,  passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 10, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial took place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, north of Little Falls.
Harvey was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Pierz to the late Hubert and Johanna (Becker) Vosen. He grew up in the Pierz area and attended Catholic school in Pierz. He was united in marriage to his first wife Adeline Ploof Jan. 6, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. Harvey then enlisted into the U.S. Army Jan. 16, 1951, and honorably served for 36 years. He worked at Camp Ripley as a shop foreman, retiring in 1988. Harvey then was united in marriage to Rita Ploof, Oct. 22, 1996, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. He loved hunting, fishing and raced dirt track cars in his younger years. Harvey also enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida for many years. He enjoyed sports, he played baseball when he was younger, but in his later years got much enjoyment from watching them on TV. Harvey was very mechanically-minded and loved the challenge of trying to fix almost anything. He will forever be remembered for his vast range of knowledge and his wonderful dry sense of humor. Harvey was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Harvey is survived by wife, Rita Vosen of Little Falls; children, Thomas (Judy) Vosen of Sauk Rapids,  Donny (Traci) Vosen of Lake Shore,  Susan (Michael) Holtz of Little Falls, John (Rachael) Vosen of Little Falls, Dave (Chris) Ploof of Baxter, Dan (Deb) Ploof of St. Cloud, Trudy (Allen) Czech of Little Falls and Scott (Wendy) Ploof of Little Falls; grandchildren, Jesse, Christopher, Jennifer, Joey, Tracy, Paul, Shannon, Stephanie, Scott, Eric, Avariel, Jasmine, Kristina, Jacob, Michael, Jolene, Jason, Jamie, Justin, Nick, Luke, Heidi, Annika, Maysie, Chad, Wyatt, Lacy, Mathew, Stephanie and Justin; siblings, Hubert ‘Juni’ Vosen of Wisconsin and Jeannie (Terry) Luff of Billings, Mont.; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by parents; first wife, Adeline Vosen; son, Patrick Vosen; and siblings, Robert Vosen, Frank Vosen and Bernice LeDoux.
