Florence Seelen, 81

Obit-SeelenFlorence Helen Seelen, a resident of Little Falls,  passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
Florence was born July 31, 1931, in Little Falls,  to the late Joseph and Florence (Stein) Kay. She grew up and attended school in the Little Falls area. Florence was united in marriage to Francis Seelen  July 3, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. The couple resided in Little Falls where they raised their 11 children. Florence worked as a homemaker for most of her life until her husband Francis passed away in 1982. She then went to work for Stearns Manufacturing in Sartell as a seamstress. In her free time she enjoyed sewing quilts, playing bingo and cards and going to garage sales. Florence also loved the time she spent with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also dearly loved her dog Wylie. Florence was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Florence is survived by children, Caroline Miller of Pierz,  Nancy Beto of Swanville,  Donald (Joan) Seelen of St. Clair,  Barbara (Gary) Okroi of Pierz,  David Seelen of Little Falls,  Beverly (Gary) Beto of Royalton,  Shirley (Tim) Bird of Little Falls,  Roger Seelen of Little Falls and Connie Seelen of Little Falls; brother, William (Delores) Kay; sister, Rose Dockendorf of Little Falls; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Florence Kay; husband, Francis Seelen; sons, Kenneth and Thomas; granddaughter, Nicole Seelen; brothers, Richard, Hank and Robert; sisters, Betty Taylor and JoAnn Bollig.
Honorary casketbearers will be Susan Geise, Lisa Hukriede, Shannon Stans, Tonya Ballou, Jessica Holm, Ashley Seelen and April Seelen. Active casketbearers were Curtis Seelen, Bradley Seelen, Donald Beto Jr., Jason Bird, Justin Bird, Jeremy Bird, Nathan Seelen, Scott Gallus, Steven Gallus, David Seelen Jr., Josh Seelen, Ryan Ballou, Garrette Beto, Brandon Beto, Brent Beto and Shawn Beto.
