Alvin John Stangl, 75

obit-StanglAlvin John Stangl a resident of Pierz, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at his home in Pierz, with his family by his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierz, with the Rev. Kenneth Popp officiating and Father Al Stangl and Father David Maciej con-celebrating.
Alvin was born Aug. 29, 1937, on the family farm to Frank and Francis (Kruschek) Stangl. He was united in marriage to Carol Blade Aug. 23, 1969, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. Together Alvin and Carol raised 10 children; two of which were taken at a young age. Alvin farmed for over 50 years on the original Stangl homestead, drove bus, was a security guard, drove limousine, and was a playground supervisor. Alvin enjoyed many things in his life including; trips with his wife, time with his family at their lake home, taking grandkids for a four wheeler ride, snowmobiling, playing cards, a trip to the casino, coffee and small talk often telling a joke or two, and sometimes just a drive to enjoy the fall colors.
Alvin is survived by wife, Carol Stangl of Pierz; sons, Steve (Terry) of Hillman, Brian of Pierz, Todd of Pierz, Kevin (Cindy) of St. Cloud, Mike (Chris) of Pierz and Tim (Staci) of Fort Ripley; daughters, Jeni (Brad) of Rice and Rebecca of Pierz; sister, Marie of Buckman; brothers, Richard (Arlene) of Buckman, Herman (Francis) of Buckman, Clarence (Judi) of Maple Plain and Father Alfred Stangl of St. Cloud; sister-in-law, Elaine Blade of Hutchinson; and 16 grandchildren.
Alvin was preceded in death by sons, Troy and Jody Stangl; granddaughter, Chenell Stangl; parents, Frank and Francis Stangl; sisters, Evelyn Dehler, Elaine Kummet and Margaret Athman; in-laws, Richard and Shirley Brennan, Richard Blade, Paul and Wilhelmina Blade, Lampert Pohlkamp, Louis Kummet, Lawrence Dehler and Norbert Athman.
Honorary bearers were grandchildren, Kyler, Darren, Breanna, Isaac, Erin, Jordan, Blake, Ryan, Katelyn, Derek, Kyle, Austin, Zachery, Emma, Kendra, and Brayden. Activebearers were sons, Steve, Brian, Todd, Kevin, Mike and Tim.
