A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 30, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup, with Father David Maciej and Father Nicholas Landsberger co-celebrating. Elizabeth “Betty” Rakotz was born Feb. 19, 1926, to the late Anton and Margaret (Froelich) Rakotz. She was united in marriage to Donald Gross, April 11, 1953, at St. Augustine Church in St. Cloud. The couple made their home in Lastrup. Betty was a great cook and she will be remembered for her pickles, hot dish, chicken and dressing. She enjoyed playing cards, watching soap operas especially “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless.” she was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup and was active with the Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid Society.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bob Gross of Lastrup, Mark (Roberta) Gross of Lastrup, Stephen Gross of Lastrup, David (Jenny) Gross of Cottage Grove, Michael (Sherry) Gross of Newport, Sue (Donald) Seelen of Pierz, Carol (Jim) Krousey of Little Falls, Linda (Duane) Claussen of Wanatah, Ind.; grandchildren, Sheila, Stacy, Jenny, Joe, Brian, Jason, Rebecca, Kyle, Matt, Melissa, Josh, Brandon, Ryan and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Shawn, Macey, Mariah, Austin, Zach, Dustin, Deanna, Aiah, Isaac, Ella, Marshall, Mabel, Addisyn, Alex; and sister, Alma Bauer of Albany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Gross, March 11, 2006; granddaughter, Cara Gross, Oct. 1, 1992; and 11 siblings.
Honorary casketbearers were Sheila Wunner, Rebecca Gross, Stacy Anderson, Elizabeth Gross, Jenny Diehl and Melissa Hollermann.
