obit-Spande-MMargaret E. Spande, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 1, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with the Rev. Jean Megorden officiating. Burial was in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.
Margaret was born Nov. 26, 1928, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, to the late Enoch and Edith Johnson. She grew up in Little Falls where she attended school and graduated from Little Falls Community High School. Margaret was united in marriage to Gustav “Gus” Swenson in 1951 in Minneapolis. On Dec. 19, 1953, a daughter, Debra was born. While married to Gus, she worked at Berg’s Jewelry and later Lad ‘n’ Lassie. After the death of her husband, Margaret was later united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1977, to Richard Spande at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls. She owned and operated the Fashion Crossroads (ladies’ apparel) for 17 years until she retired in 1995. Margaret enjoyed planting flowers in her garden and had two green thumbs. She made several craft items to share with her family and friends, and of course the church craft sale. Margaret loved animals and shared five cats with her daughter. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and also belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post  1112 and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 46. She was the most kind, loving and caring person. Her memory will live on through her daughter, Debbie.
Margaret is survived by her  daughter, Debbie of Little Falls; brother, Bertel (Betty) Johnson of Little Falls; several nieces and nephews.   Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch and Edith Johnson; husband, Gustav Swenson and Dick Spande; sister, Bertha Bjornoos; and brother, Richard (Dottie) Johnson.
