To the Editor:
The following sentences are part of a recent letter to Mayor Cathy VanRisseghem.
“Hello Cathy, I am wondering why you have not read our proclamation recognizing the last week of June in the city of Little Falls as ‘Peace and Diversity Week.’ Is there a reason you have not considered it for proclamation? If so, what would that be? Are you not in favor of an event that celebrates diversity, encourages dialogue and fellowship between the races and promotes world peace?
“I would think your faith would lead you to consider this. I would also think your interest in promoting something as worthy as this event would spur you to action. I am puzzled. When people attended the Central Minnesota Peace and Diversity Fair here last June 22, it brought business to town and brought people together from all walks of life.
“This year, the Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace is hosting the event. Our events are always free to the public and promote fairness, inclusion and a variety of spiritual and ideological viewpoints, as open dialogue is key to a healthier, more peaceful world. With hope, Robin Hensel.”
