A year after the Holdingford girls qualified for the True Team state meet, the Holdingford boys matched the honor, winning the Section 5A competition held at Montevideo, Tuesday, outdistancing runner-up Montevideo 799.5-728.
The Huskers were led by first-place performances from sophomore Abe Skwira in the 3,200-meter run (10:25.09) and the 4×200 relay team (1:38.54), with runner-up efforts turned in by sophomore Andrew Zachman in the 3,200 (10:25.25), sophomore Grant Bullert in the long jump (19-feet, 1.25-inches) and triple jump (41-feet, 2.25-inches), Skwira in the 1,600 (4:42.58), the 4×400 relay team (3:39.05) and the 4×800 relay team (8:42.18).
On the girls side, Holdingford finished third in a tight race behind Osakis and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, led by its first place 4×800 relay team (10:44.73).
Huskers finish in top
three at Pillager
Senior Kyle Kolstad won the pole vault (11-feet) and sophomore Logan Smith dashed to first in the 400 (54.69) to lead Holdingford to second at Pillager, May 2.
The Holdingford girls took third out of 11 teams in the meet, led by its first-place 4×100 relay team (54.68).
