Cavegn’s domestic assault case dismissed, attorney may refile in the future

Donald Mathew Cavegn, 48, Little Falls, had one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation dismissed April 30 in Morrison County District Court.

On July 12, 2012, the Morrison County dispatch received a report of a choking incident on 130th Avenue.

The officers responded to the scene and met with the victim who told them she had been in an argument with Cavegn concerning missing tools.

Law enforcement was told that Cavegn threw a socket wrench, hitting the victim’s leg while she was walking away. He then placed his forearm around the victim’s neck and began to choke her.

Cavegn then put both hands around the victim’s neck and continued choking.

Law enforcement observed red marks on the victim’s neck, consistent with choking. There were also young children present at the scene.

Cavegn, denying the incident, was placed under arrest.

Assistant County Attorney Todd Kosovich said the case was dismissed with the right to refile due to an issue with a witness.
