CMC Softball: Kimball rallies past Pierz for sweep

Kimball Area erased a late four-run deficit on its way to earning an 8-7, 3-0 sweep over visiting Pierz to close the regular season, Thursday.

Pierz jumped in front early in game one with a five-run third inning, maintaining control with a 7-3 lead midway through the fifth.

But the Cubs evened the contest with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, then brought in the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth.

Senior Megan Boser led the Pioneers offensively, going 2-for-4 with a homer. Kimball received a dominant pitching performance to complete the sweep, shutting out Pierz on two hits, including one each from Boser and senior Brook Brausen.

Holdingford plowed through host Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 11-1 and 24-4 in a doubleheader, Thursday.
