Little Falls had to wait through an hour-long rain day after the first batter, then battle through extra innings.

But the Flyers endured an extended dreary night to knock off host Milaca 2-0 in eight innings, Monday, improving to 11-3 as the regular season winds down.

Senior Josh Wenzel went the distance on the mound, tossing a six-hit shutout while fanning 11 batters.

His two biggest strikeouts came in the bottom of the seventh, as Milaca had a golden chance to pull off the upset with runners on second and third with only one out.

However, Wenzel came up with back-to-back strike outs, allowing the Flyers the chance to escape on top in extra innings.

The Flyers didn’t waste any time after that, as senior Spencer Fenske drove in senior Gabe Ploof with an RBI single, then came around to score on a two-out hit by junior Alec Zack to produce all of the scoring Little Falls would need.

Ploof finished the game 3-for-4 and senior Collin Eckman collected a double.
