Area Golf: Pierz’ Hawks clinches all-conference honors

Herold finishes one shot back as Pioneers boys take fourth at HLWW CMC meet

Pierz sophomore Jessica Hawks carded a 49 at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW), Tuesday, clinching All-Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) honors for the second season in a row.

Hawks finished eighth overall individually, with the Pioneers closing in sixth place as a team.

Sophomore Miranda Robertsdahl (56) and senior Katie Kowalzek (57) followed Hawks closely, with sophomore Sam Smith (72), junior Grace Duxbury (73) and eighth-grader Brittany Talberg (79) rounding out the Pioneers’ lineup.


Pierz girls earn sixth at BBE

Hawks fired a 42 and Kowalzek had a round of 52 as Pierz took sixth place at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE) meet, May 17.

Smith (58) and Talberg (63) also scored for the Pioneers.


Herold, Woitalla lead Pioneers boys at HLWW

Senior Dustin Herold finished one shot back of the leader with a 39 and junior Evan Woitalla had a 45 to lead the Pierz boys to fourth place at HLWW, May 16.

Junior Matt Athman, sophomore Ethan Lochner and eighth-grader Nathan Poster each followed with rounds of 47, with sophomore Josh Rocheleau carding a 50.
