The combination of Matt Silbernick and the sixth seed was at it again.
A year after marching to the Sub-Section 5A East championship as the No. 6 seed, with two of three wins coming from now-senior Silbernick on the mound, Royalton upended host Braham 4-2 in Friday’s postseason opener in a rematch of last season’s sub-section finals.
Braham managed only one hit in the game off of Silbernick, who went the distance, striking out 10 without allowing an earned run.
Junior Cade Stang led the charge offensively, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI.
Sophomore Jordon Smieja also put together a multi-hit game with a 2-for-4, two-RBI effort and sophomore Brady Moulzolf singled and stole two bases.
Next up for Royalton is the Sub-Section 5A East semifinals against second-seeded Rush City, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Pierz.
