Some avid gardeners already see growth and progress at the Pierz Family Gardens, a prepared area near the Skunk River and 143rd Street. Plots 25-feet by 25-feet are rented out at $30. The funds raised are put back into the gardens to ensure sustainability.
Water is available at the gardens, as well as a picnic table and restrooms. The area is meant to be safe and comfortable for children, but all pets must be leashed.
Visitors are not allowed to enter garden plots as every garden is regarded as private property. Gardeners must weed and keep their garden plot maintained and groomed.
Active members of the committee that work to oversee the gardens include Russ Hildebrant, Bob Boser, Judy Meierhofer and Anna Gruber.
Those who wish to rent a garden plot may call City Hall at (320) 468-6471.
