Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, at Esther Lutheran Church, rural Parkers Prairie, with Pastor Jeannette Bidne presiding. Burial followed in the Esther Lutheran Church cemetery.
Delores died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie. Blessed be her memory. Delores Elaine Willie was born Oct. 9, 1932, to Henry and Hattie (Peterson) Willie in Osakis. She attended school in Eagle Bend. Delores married Russell E Wells in 1950 in Reno, Nev. To this marriage four children were born, Reno, Teresa, Dennis, and Sandra. As a military spouse, Delores and her family moved often, living in southern California; Tacoma, Wash.; Norfolk, Va.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Warwick and Newport, RI. In 1963, the family returned to Minnesota, eventually making their home on a farm near Bertha. Delores married Donald Mueller, July 2, 1971, in Sisseton, S.D. To this marriage, one child was born: Jason. Delores and Don made their home in the Lake Beauty area near Long Prairie. Delores loved her home and decorating it. She enjoyed having her family with her and was known for her caramel rolls and the large feasts she would prepare for family gatherings. She made dolls for her granddaughters and loved to show them the dolls and pretty dishes she collected. Her grandsons, who lived nearby, spent many hours at her home and were a special joy to her.
Delores is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Reno (Kaureen) Wells of Hackensack, Dennis (Nancy) Wells of Aberdeen, S.D., Sandra Carlson of Babbitt and Jason (Brenda) Mueller, Long Prairie; her grandchildren, Kristi (Kevin) Yutrzenka, Trese’ (Wade) Lund, Laura Wells, Katherine (Justin) Scott, Merete Wells, Brandie (Steve) Webb, Ben Mueller, Luke Mueller, and Bethany Schmitz; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kenna, Cheyenne, Hunter, Graham, Patrick, Skyler, Reece; friend and former daughter-in-law, Amy Sandy, Long Prairie; brother, David (Marlene) Willie, Sawyer; sister, Yuvonne (Jerry)Anderson, Eagle Bend, sisters-in-law, Lucille (Marlyn) Hagedorn, Eagle Bend; Sharon Willie, Eagle Bend; Meurriel Willie, Fergus Falls; and Ruth Willie, Swanville and many nieces and nephews.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hatti; daughter, Teresa; brothers Rueben, Wallace, Clinton and Robert; and sister, Darlene.
