Harriet Jones, 89

obit-Jones-HHarriet C. Jones, a resident of Maple Grove, formerly of Little Falls, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Wildflower Lodge in Maple Grove.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, with the Rev. Jean Megorden officiating. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Harriet C. Jones was born March 10, 1924, in Randall, to the late Harry and Amelia (Delacas) Jones where she attended elementary school. In 1937, the family moved to Little Falls where Harriet graduated from high school in 1942. She moved to Minneapolis and attended the Minnesota School of Business for one year, graduating in 1943. Harriet was then employed as a secretary from 1943-1946. She was hired by Northwest Airlines as a reservation agent from 1946-1952. Harriet then took a job with Trans World Airlines working as a reservation/ticket agent from 1952-1984. She worked for AAA from 1984 until retiring in 1986. Harriet was united in marriage to Walter P. Herbst May 3, 1986, at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis. The couple resided in Edina until 2008. Harriet enjoyed traveling all over the world. She especially enjoyed African safaris. Harriet also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and reading. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and also a member of Eastern Star, Acacia Chapter #272.

Harriet is survived by nephews, Stephen W. (Frances) Jones of West Covina, Calif., Bryan R. (Susan) Jones of Appleton, Wis. and Gordon M. (Anne) Jones of Faribault; and five step-sons.

Harriet was preceded in death parents, Harry and Amelia Jones; husband, Walter Herbst; and brother, Warren Jones.
