Geraldine I. James, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Family Parish Cemetery in Belle Prairie. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Geraldine I. James was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Little Falls Township, Morrison County, to the late Joseph and Hattie (Jelinski) Stockdale. She grew up in Little Falls and attended District 31 country school and two years of high school. Geraldine was united in marriage to Lloyd W. James Aug. 13, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. The couple lived in Pontiac, Mich., for a short time, then moved to Minneapolis for a short time, until they purchased a farm by Freedhem in 1958. Geraldine stayed on the farm taking care of their children. She also milked cows by hand and ran the farm while Lloyd worked in the Twin Cities. Geraldine also worked at Crestliner, T.O. Plastics, Munsingwear and Rice Creek Game Farm. Geraldine loved to play cards and dance to old time music and western music. She also enjoyed watching The Price Is Right and Wheel Of Fortune. Geraldine liked to garden and can foods, she made the best homemade bread. She loved spending time with her family. Geraldine and Lloyd were married 49 years. Geraldine was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie and a member of St. Anne’s Society. She loved to go to church and sing.
Geraldine is survived by her sons, Lawrence James of Little Falls and Leon James of Montgomery; daughters, Karen (Leo) Welle of Little Falls and Mary Leither of St. Louis Park; daughter-in-law, Dianne Younger; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Schleif, Daniel Welle and Alan James; great-grandchildren, Ava and Lily Schleif; and brother, Joseph Stockdale Jr.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd James; and her parents, Joseph and Hattie Stockdale.
Casketbearers will be Lawrence James, Leon James, Alan James, Daniel Welle, John Schleif and Chris Anderson.
