The Little Falls School Board approved an agreement with American Tower Corporation for a perpetual lease of the communications tower sitting near the fairgrounds but on school property.

The original lease was for 30 years and was made between the Morrison County Fair Board and the communications company. The board received $20,000 for that lease in 1997.

The easement to the property, about 4.4 acres, never materialized. It was then the school was contacted.

Now that the district owns the acreage, it was asked to renew the original lease for another $20,000 or sign a perpetual lease for $120,000.

“Since the renewal would take the district to the year 2057, the recommendation was for the perpetual lease since it is for more money,” said Little Falls Business Manager Nancy Henderson. “The money will be put to good use for our taxpayers.”
