Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, June 11, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, with Father Jimmy Joseph officiating. Burial took place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, north of Little Falls.
Edward was born May 16, 1934, in Brockway Township, Stearns County, to the late George and Martha (Mrosla) Sowada. He grew up in North Prairie and attended school in Holdingford, graduating with the Class of 1952. Edward served his country honorably in the Army until he was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Lordeen Harren Nov. 12, 1969. Edward worked various jobs throughout his life as a truck driver. He owned and operated his own milk truck, drove school and charter bus and was an over-the-road trucker for several years with Molus Trucking and a retiree of Tri-City Paving. Edward was an active member at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, where he was involved in the adult choir. He was also a lifelong member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. In his free time, he enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Sobieski Skis. Edward also loved watching Wheel of Fortune, playing cards and listening and playing “old time music.”
Edward is survived by his wife, Lordeen Sowada of Sobieski; children, Charlene (Tom) Bzdok of Little Falls, Craig (Kara) Sowada of Little Falls, Janele (Adam) LaCosse of Woodbury, Joan (Rollie) Johnson of Upsala and Thomas “Chip” Sowada of Little Falls; brothers, George (Gen) Sowada of Roseville, Duane (Alice) Sowada of Little Falls and Robert (Pat) Sowada of Little Falls; and grandchildren, Kala, Riley, Carter, Gavin, Drew, Jameson, Marlena, Nolan, Jake and Jack.
Edward was preceded in death by parents, George and Martha Sowada; and brother, James Sowada.
