Maureen Watercott, 54

obit-Watercott-MMaureen Watercott, of Pierz passed away June 25, 2013, after a short, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Pierz. Friends may call from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday, June 30, and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Monday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz. A Christian Mothers rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz.

Maureen was born Jan. 29, 1959, in St. Cloud, to Delores (Novak) and the late Charles Watercott. Maureen graduated from Healy High School in Pierz and also St. Cloud Vo-Tech with an associate of arts degree in accounting. Maureen worked for Good Shepherd nursing home as an office manager, and for the last 29 years, she worked for Benton County, most recently as accounting supervisor in the finance department. She was also treasurer for the city of Pierz for the last 14 years. Maureen was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Christian Women and a past parish council member. Maureen enjoyed reading, listening to music, the Minnesota Vikings, spending time with friends, mother/sister outings, and especially treasured the times spent with all of her family.

Maureen will be dearly missed by her mother, Delores, siblings, Kathy Watercott Funk, Ron (Barb), Tim (Joanie), Carolyn (Bob) Brisk, Pat (Colleen) and Colette (Mark) Gangl; nieces and nephews-godchild, Pam (Gary), Kurt (Julie), Scott (Christen), Jeff, Andy, Allison (Jamie), Ben, TJ (Tara), Kari (Adam), Trista, Danny (Bobbi), Kelly (Doug), Nathan, Stacy, Zach and also 19 great-nieces and nephews.

Maureen was preceded in death by her father, Charles, April 21, 1997.
