The Swanville City Council approved the low bid from Larson Excavating Contractors Inc. from Holdingford to construct the water system improvement designated by the Council.
The project will include water main and sidewalk installation, replacement and restoration on Rhoda Street from First Street to Sixth Street; Fifth Street from Highway 38 to Berkey and Third Street from Berkey to the water tower. Upon completion of the project the water distribution system constructed in 1930-1931 will be updated.
Mike Rude, representing Widseth Smith Nolting told the Council Tuesday, the construction should begin within the next few weeks and will be completed in September.
The city received four bids on the project including Larson’s low bid of $1.05 million. The bids ranged to a high bid of $1.530 million.
Rude said the low bid was approximately $42,000 over his estimate of the project.

In other business, Tuesday, the Swanville City Council:
• Approved making the repairs needed at the park shelter due to vandalism to the building;
• Approved a contribution of $600 to the Initiative Foundation;
• Heard those that had received notice that their property needed to be cleaned up were all in the process of correcting the issue; and
• Heard all went well during the Swanville Carnival.
The next regular meeting of the Swanville City Council will be Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
