Ice cream social and book sale planned at Minnesota Military Museum

The Minnesota Military Museum and the Little Falls Dairy Queen invite the public to an “ice cream social and book sale” at the Minnesota Military Museum, Tuesday, July 16, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. The event will be packed with activities for both kids and adults with numerous period re-enactors on hand to help interpret events of military significance.

Tanks will be available for kids to explore, helicopters will be opened for pictures of young pilots, and Civil War re-enactors will be firing muskets so cameras are recommended. Volunteers will be on hand to provide tours and answer questions about the museum.

In addition the museum will be conducting a book sale of surplus books from its 10,000 volume library. The sale will feature many individual books and book sets, with the majority of subject matter dealing with military history.

Boy Scout Troop 51 will be grilling brats and hot dogs and the Little Falls Dairy Queen will provide free root beer floats for everyone attending.

The Minnesota Military Museum is a 501(c)3 educational organization and located just inside the gates of Camp Ripley. It is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is the only military museum in the state honoring all branches of service, from early frontier days to the present.
