VFW Baseball: Little Falls closes season with 22-9 record at districts

The Little Falls VFW baseball team wrapped up its season at the District 6 tournament in Brainerd this week, finishing with a 22-9 record.

 

Little Falls 6, Sartell 2

Third-seeded Little Falls opened the tournament with a 6-2 win over sixth-seeded Sartell, Tuesday, led by a three-hit game from Thomas Miller.

Little Falls scored the first six runs of the contest before Sartell finally got on the board with two in the sixth, but Chris Reller worked a scoreless seventh to keep Sartell from pulling any closer.

Adam Hallberg scattered eight hits over six innings to earn the win.

 

St. Cloud Blue 7, Little Falls 2

Little Falls advanced to the semifinals later in the day with the win, taking on No. 2 St. Cloud Blue.

The teams traded a pair of early runs, with the score holding at a 2-2 tie entering the sixth, before St. Cloud Blue took control with a five-run frame to pick up the 7-2 win.

Chris Reller finished 2-for-3 and Hallberg doubled.

 

Sauk Rapids 4, Little Falls 0

Little Falls dropped into Wednesday’s consolation bracket with the defeat, taking on No. 5 Sauk Rapids in an elimination game.

Little Falls drew six walks in the game, but couldn’t record a hit as Sauk Rapids won with a 4-0 shutout behind four double plays to advance.
