Staples man charged with third degree sexual conduct with a minor

Devin Scott Rinas, 22, Staples, was charged July 17 in the Morrison County District Court, with two felony counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct.

On June 20, Rinas, a sexual offender who is prohibited from having contact with juvenile females, was arrested in Baxter when he was found in the company of two minor females. One of the girls was 14 years old.

According to the criminal complaint, the 14-year-old girl told police Rinas knew her age and that she previously had sexual intercourse with him three times.

In a taped statement from Rinas, he allegedly told police he did have sexual intercourse with the girl on different occasions.

If convicted, Rinas faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and/or a $30,000 fine.
