Steven R. Haste of Motley died at his home Saturday, July 28, 2013.
Steve endured 2 1/2 years of small cell lung cancer with faith and much bravery. His wishes were to be cremated without a funeral.
Steven was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Wadena, to Theodore and Olive (Wilson) Haste. Steve attended Staples High School. He worked for three companies in his life; FMC, Ricks’ Cabinets and Furniture, and for the last 10 years at Tri-City Paving. His crew will fondly remember Steve as radio. Steve married Lisa Ann Faber, Dec. 12, 1987, at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park. Steve was a gentle soul who was a friend to all. He greatly loved and cared for his family and his home in the woods. Papa (Steve) was in his glory while spending time with Natalie and Carter, his grandbabies. Fishing, baseball, motorcycles and arguing politics were some of his enjoyments.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Corey Haste, Morgan Haste and Elijah (Betsy) Sarbaum; mother, Olive; grandchildren, Natalie and Carter Sarbaum; siblings, Ted and Dennis (Holly) Haste; and many beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore; and brother, Jeff.
We wish to thank all the kind souls who helped Steve and family through. Special mention of thanks to Essentia Health Care in Brainerd and Motley Free Methodist Church.
