Gerald N. Koetter, 65

obit-Koetter-GGerald N. Koetter, a resident of Pierz, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his home in Pierz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Aug. 7, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Military Rites were conducted by Pierz American Legion Post 341

Gerald N. Koetter was born March 15, 1948, in Little Falls, to the late Norbert and Dorothy Koetter. He was united in marriage to Rita Hoffman, April 28, 1979, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. Gerald worked at Dezuriks in Sartell for 40 years as a machinist until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, feeding the birds, playing horseshoe, going to the casino, playing bingo and he loved to barbecue. He especially loved to spoil the grandkids and take them on tractor rides.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Rita Koetter of Pierz; son, Alan (Sandy) Koetter of Alexandria; daughters, Judy (Jason) Hudalla of Little Falls and Janice (John) Poegel of Swanville; brothers, Jim (Nancy) Koetter of Little Falls, Bob (Fran) Koetter of Swanville and Steve (Kathy) Koetter of Clarksfield; sisters, Delores Thoma of Little Falls and Lorraine (Jerry) Thoma of Swanville; and four grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Dorothy Koetter; and brother-in-law, Fred Thoma. Casketbearers were Greg Thoma, Dennis Thoma, John Hoffman, Lloyd Hoffman Jr., Mark Thoma and Paul Koetter.
