Fire destroys Gene’s Repair in Royalton

Genes-repairA fire at Gene’s Repair in Royalton was reported about 3:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.  Eight minutes later, when the Morrison County Sheriff’s Department arrived, the building, filled with the tires and oil typical in a vehicle repair shop, was totally engulfed. Royalton firefighters were on the scene and called for assistance from the Rice and Little Falls Fire Departments.

Traffic was controlled by the Minnesota State Patrol and Morrison County Sheriff’s Department.

A sheriff’s deputy said a mechanic suffered burns on his hands, and that the fire apparently started in the back of the building, but no cause was known. The Fire Marshall was enroute about 5:30 p.m.

Winds kept flames from reaching a propane gas company adjacent to Gene’s Repair to the north.

Gold Cross Ambulance was on the scene with the Royalton First Responders, Royalton Fire Department, Royalton Police Department, Rice Fire Department, Little Falls Fire Department, Morrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
