Ground broken for addition to Food Shelf

Food-shelf-groundbreakingThe Little Falls Morrison County Food Shelf will be building an addition to the food shelf building on Little Falls’ west side. The original building was constructed in 2004, with the 18-foot by 24-foot addition to be built on the north side of the current building. The addition is being funded in large part by donations, especially by two donors who wish to remain anonymous. Space was needed for an additional cooler and freezer. Also, more space for storage is included in the design. Currently additional space needed has to be located when a delivery is too large for current space limitations. The food shelf has seen an increase in usage of more than 40 percent over the last five years. New sources for securing food have been needed to cover the increase. Through the generosity of area residents, the food shelf has been able to maintain service to those in need.
